The best thing about them, however, is they’re really easy to make. Knead the dough, leave it to rise, roll it out and cut it, then finally shape it into sticks and sprinkle with any seeds you like. After a short time in the oven, they’re done!
MAKING THE DOUGH
Pour the flour into a bowl and make a well in the middle.
Pour in water and oil, then add sugar, yeast and salt.
Mix everything and knead until the dough is pliable and smooth. You can use a mixer if you like.
Cover the bowl tightly with a lid, cling film or damp tea towel.
Let the dough rise for 30 minutes.
SHAPING THE GRISSINI
Transfer the risen dough to a work surface.
Divide the dough in half and roll out each half into a 0.5 cm thick rectangle.
Use a pizza cutter to cut the rectangle into strips the width of a finger.
Roll the strips between your palms to make them round.
Put the grissini on a baking tray covered with baking paper.
BAKING
Preheat the oven to 200°C.
Whisk the egg and brush it onto the grissini with a pastry brush.
Sprinkle with sesame seeds, then leave to rest for 20 minutes before baking.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the grissini are a golden yellow.
Let the grissini cool, then start munching with your favorite spread or pâté!
