Different countries, different snacks: Slovenia

Reading time 1 min Share

In Slovenia cheese was made in monasteries even in the Middle Ages. Today we can find everything from Gorički raj, to Nanos, Bohinj, Karst, Bovec and Tolmin cheeses... It doesn't matter which cheese you use to create your dish. Maybe give each one a place of honour on the serving platter.

Cheese balls

Ingredients:

  • 200 g of cottage cheese
  • 1 Argeta Chicken spread
  • 50 g of hard cheese (grated)
  • pumpkin seeds
  • a pinch of salt
  • chives
  • freshly ground pepper

Mix the curd, chicken spread, salt and grated cheese in a blender and form into balls or “dumplings”. Roll the balls in ground pumpkin seeds and a combination of chives and pepper.

Cheese balls are used to spread on different breads.
